BG Donald "Norman" Vivian will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery on Monday, January 13, 2014 following a short service at 1 p.m. in the Old Post Chapel, Fort Myer, Virginia.
Norman Vivian was born and raised in Schenectady, New York, attended Union College, and graduate from Boston University Medical School. He received a MS in Surgery from the University of Minnesota.
BG Vivian served for 35 years in the Army and then the Air Force and was a veteran of WWII, Korean, and Vietnam Wars. He commanded seven Air Force hospitals including USAF Hospital Tachikawa and the Wright-Patterson AFB Hospital. He served as Command Surgeon US Air Forces Europe. Upon retirement, he served as medical director of the El Rio Medical Clinic in Tucson, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years Maetta Hues Vivian. He is survived by his sons, Colonel Talbot and Paul Vivian; grandchildren, Lydia, Paul and Maria; and two great-grandchildren.
