Colonel, U.S. Army (Ret.)

Of Haymarket, VA, on November 27, 2013. Beloved husband of Inge Hammonds. Devoted father of Roy, Michael and Nina. Loving grandfather of Joshua, Amanda, Jonathan, Alexa, Michael and Natalie. He was very much loved and admired by all who had the good fortune of knowing him. Colonel Eugene Hammonds proudly spent 34 years in the US Army. He served in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam Wars in strategic command positions. He later served on the US Army General Staff, the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the National Military Command Center. A Memorial Service will be held at Truro Anglican Church Chapel at 10520 Main Street, Fairfax, VA, 22030 on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Old Post Chapel at Fort Myer, with interment at Arlington National Cemetery with full honors at a later date. Memorial Contributions may be made to Truro Anglican Church.
