Services with full military honors will be held for F. William Bauers, Jr. (Lt. Col., USAF Ret.), who passed away February 10, 2014, at 1 p.m.. on June 18, 2014, at the Fort Myer Old Post Chapel. Interment will follow immediately in Arlington National Cemetery. During WW II, Bauers flew 68 combat missions; his awards included the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with 11 oak leaf clusters; he was Assistant Air Attaché to Pakistan. France awarded him the Legion of Honor in 2011.
The family will receive guests at a reception after the burial at the Fort Myer Officers' Club, located on post and requiring re- admittance pass from the cemetery. Guests should return through the gate near the Old Post Chapel and proceed straight ahead to the end of the street into Club parking on the right.
Guests without military identification also should allow time prior to the service to access Fort Myer from Washington Boulevard at the southwest edge of Fort Myer.
