October 27, 1965 - January 12, 2013  

John Bruce Hammond, 47, of Alexandria, VA, passed away at home after a 6-year battle with cancer. His mother Julia West Hammond preceded him in death. His wife Kerry Aucamp Hammond; his parents Donald and Carole Hammond; and his three siblings Keith C. Hammond (wife Ann), David B. Hammond (wife Laura) and Jennifer R. Hammond survive him.
John was a veteran of the U.S. Army's 10th Mountain Division. After returning from active duty, he became a mainstay in Old Town's restaurant industry. He later moved to the supply side working as a National Accounts Manager for Premium Distributors. Seldom without his smile or quick wit John was well respected in the community and valued as a friend.
A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, January 28 from 12 noon to 4 p.m. at Columbia Firehouse Restaurant.109 S. Saint Asaph Street, Alexandria, VA 22314. Burial to be at Alexandria National Cemetery and will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pheo Para Alliance, P.O. Box 504, Arlington, VA 22216.
