JOHN C. RHOADS

Dr. JOHN CHARLES RHOADS

On the morning of Tuesday, May 13, 2014, Dr. John C. Rhoads departed this life after 84 years. We will all miss his humor and spirit.
Born October 4, 1929, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Mearl and Cecelia (McGill) Rhoads, John graduated from St. Francis College, later attaining a medical degree from the George Washington University Medical School. He entered the Air Force, living in Bermuda, Mississippi and Maryland, retiring in 1966 as a Major, before settling in his home of Manassas, Virginia. He spent his career as an OB/GYN welcoming newborns into the world with a swat on the bottom and a cheerful whistle. Some of his most cherished moments were with family and friends, playing golf, relaxing at Bethany Beach, and watching his favorite team (winning or losing), the Washington Redskins.
He was predeceased by his beloved childhood sweetheart of 49 years, Jeanne Buchanan Rhoads, and survived by his six children, Kevin, David, Mark, Rebecca (Baggesen), Phillip, and Richard, along with nine grandchildren, Nick, Amanda, Cecelia, Holland, Jake, Daniel, Leslie (Baggesen), Morgan (Baggesen), and Allie.
Relatives and friends are invited to honor and celebrate his life Tuesday, May 20,
11 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church, 9300 Stonewall Road, Manassas, VA.
