John Vernon Gruber died peacefully October 4, 2012 at Community Hospice in Washington, DC., after a short but valiant battle with cancer. He was born August 20, 1952 in Oil City, Pennsylvania. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Gerald Gruber and Jean Snyder Gruber, both of Clarion, PA. He is survived by his wife, Kerry Johnson Gruber of Gaithersburg, MD; sisters Julie Feick of Erie, PA and Jodi Mooney of State College, PA; brothers James Gruber of Silver Spring, MD and Joel Gruber of Merrimack, NH; nieces Jennifer, Gretchen, Mary, Tara, and Anna; and nephews Matthew, Michael, Jacob, Jeremy, John, and Joseph. A celebration of his life will be held November 3, 2012. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Community Hospice/Washington Home of Washington, DC; the Atlantic Salmon Federation; Maine Coon Rescue; or the Penn State College of Engineering Fund.
