During her career, she held supervisory nursing positions in Boston, MA; Bryn Mawr, PA, and Ft. Wayne, IN. Her last position was as Operating Room Supervisor at Shriners Burn Institute, Boston, MA.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Thomas L. Twohey; her children, Maura E. Karry, South Riding VA, T. Michael Twohey, Fairfax, VA and Jonathan L. Twohey, Vienna, VA; and five grandchildren. Mrs. Twohey is also survived by her sister, Maureen Bell, Raleigh, NC and brother, John J. Coughlin, Williamsburg, VA.

Mrs. Twohey was a former member of St. Marks Church, Vienna, VA, where she sang in the choir and taught youth religious education when her children were young. Mrs. Twohey was very involved in her children's lives throughout their childhood. She spent her time as Cub Scout den mother, Little League team mom, class room mother, and driving her daughter to countless dance classes. As a grandmother, Mrs. Twohey was just as present with her grandchildren, volunteering with her daughter as co-room moms at the elementary school, carpooling to the same dance studio, cheering on the sidelines, and always in the front row for every performance.
