YOUNG MARION MUNDY YOUNG Marion Mundy Young passed away, with her family by her side, at INOVA Alexandria Hospital on February 22, 2013. Born in Charlottesville, VA on February 21, 1921, she was the daughter of Ann Marion Bergstrom Mundy and James Oscar Mundy, Jr., M.D. Marion was educated at St. Anne's School in Charlottesville, Sweet Briar College and received her Bachelor's degree from the Curry School of Education at the University of Virginia. A civic activist and member of the Old Town Civic Association, Marion was always engaged in supporting and preserving Old Town, Alexandria. A member of the Sister City Committee in the 70's, she was able to make a trip to Dundee Scotland to further foster the social and educational exchanges the two cities shared. She volunteered at the Lyceum Museum Shop, the Meals-on-Wheels program and for many years shared her knowledge of linens and mastery of flower arranging with the Altar Guild at St. Paul's Church. Her other hobbies included gardening, sewing, knitting, cooking and volunteering. Accomplished at all she gave freely of her time and talents to family, friends and to those in need. Marion was also a member of The Cotillion for which she was a charter and longtime board member, the Kate Waller Barrett Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Yates Garden Club, Belle Haven Country Club, Farmington Country Club, and St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Alexandria. Predeceased by her husband of nearly 68 years, Seymour R. Young, she is survived by her children, Marion "Happy" Young McCown (David) of Leesburg, VA, Seymour Robinson Young, Jr. (Kathy) of Charlottesville, VA, and Ann Morton Young Habliston (Charlie) of Alexandria, VA. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, D. Allen McCown, Jr., Claire M. McCown, Henry C. Young, Mary Katherine Young, Anna E. Young, Caroline M. Habliston, Charles C. Habliston V and J. Bennet Habliston. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Alexandria, VA on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 1 p.m. with a reception following.
