MARK H. AYERS
Mark H. Ayers, President of the Building and Construction Trades Department, AFL-CIO, passed from this life on April 8, 2012. Prior to becoming President of the BCTD, Ayers served for 9 years as the director of the Construction and Maintenance Department at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). He was also a member of IBEW Local 34 in Peoria, IL, since 1973, which he headed as business manager for nine years.
Mark was born on January 22, 1949, in Canton, IL, to Edward Charles Ayers and Daunie Darlene Hawks Ayers. He married Deborah Selburg in Peoria, IL, on May 24, 1998. She survives.
Preceding him in death were his father, Edward Charles Ayers and stepfather, John Taylor.
In addition to his wife, Deborah Selburg Ayers, Alexandria, VA, he is survived by his mother, Daunie Hawks Ayers Taylor, Holland, MI, his brother, Edward Kent (Nancy) Ayers, Douglas, MI, daughters, Aimee Ayers (Bill) Mansfield, Springfield, IL, Tami (Bill) Lamprecht, Peoria, IL, grandchildren, Carlee, Porter, Brenin, Tatym, Taryn, Taylor, and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call at Metropolitan Memorial United Methodist Church, 3401 Nebraska Avenue N.W., Washington, D.C. 20016 on Tuesday from 1 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. where a service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. There will also be a visitation on Friday, April 20 at Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home, 2408 W. Willow Knolls Dr., Peoria, IL 61614 from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, 116 N. Perry Avenue, Peoria, IL 61603. Inurnment will take place at a later date at White Chapel Memory Gardens, 24550 N. County Highway 6, Canton, IL 61520. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the following
