PATRICIA CAWLEY LYDON  
10/1/1921 ~ 3/4/2013  

Born in Scranton, PA to Patrick Thomas and Anna Downes Cawley. Pat graduated Central High School and Lackawanna College. In 1941 came to Washington,DC to work in the Quarter Master General's Office as a Secretary. During World War II also worked for the Motor Transport Division of the Defense Department in Detroit, MI and Chicago, IL supplying our troops with first class equipment.Married Thomas John Lydon,native of Minooka, Pa, at St. Matthew's Cathedral, Washington, DC, October 4, 1944, while he was serving in the Navy. They settled, raised their family and were active in Church and Civic activities in College Park,Md. Tom died July 23,1973. Pat was Administrator of Holy Redeemer Church and School for 25 years. She lived in College Park 31 years before moving to Olney in 1984. She was an active member of Sodality, CCD, PTA, Boy and Girl Scouts, Boy and Girl Clubs, League of Women Voters, ladies of the Knights of Columbus, Columbian Ladies Guild, Friends of Olney Theatre,Montgomery Hospital Women's Board,Sandy Spring Museum,Longwood Seniors and St. Peter's Catholic Church. In addition to her husband,she was preceded in death by an infant daughter; two sisters, Bernadette Cawley and Frances McGuire and three brothers, John,Gaynor and James Cawley. She is survived by children, Michael and Kerry Lydon; Patrice Channell; Thomas,Jr and John and Abby Lydon; grandchildren:Scott, Heather, Christopher, Erik, Renee, Thomas III, Sean, Kaitlin, Andrew, Beth and Matthew and one great-grandchild, Samantha.
The funeral mass with be held at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Olney,Md on March 11, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. A wake will be held in the church one hour before the mass for family and friends. Burial with follow the mass at Gate of Heaven Cemetary and those that wish to join the family for a lunch are invited to attend at the Inn at Brookville Farms.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donation to a is preferred.
