On December 2, 2012 at home at the age of 97. Born in Houston, Texas, he had a long and very interesting life. In 1937, he was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree from Wilberforce University where he was a member of the ROTC. He subsequently served as a World War II Tuskegee Airman liaison pilot and was a member of the 366th Infantry Regiment. While at Wilberforce he was elected to Who's Who and was Polemarch of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. He was a Life Member and remained active in the DC Alumni Chapter. He retired from a career with the US Postal Service after 30 years. As a 60 year member of Peoples Congregational Church he taught Sunday School and led the Trustee Board during the capital campaign for the new chapel. He was preceded in death by his wives, Evalyn Mike, the mother of his children, and Johnnie Upshaw. He was loved and admired by his son, Terry Brooks Jr. (Catherine); daughter, Marsha Brooks Henderson (Wade); four grandchildren, Kobie Brooks, Kemba Carroll, Tahira and Anaia Henderson' and four great-grand children, Malique, Makaila, Kyleigh and Madison. On Friday, December 14, 2012, his family will receive friends at Peoples Congregational Church, 4704 13th Street, NW at 10 a.m. with a service at 11 a.m. Interment private.
