Richard Thomas, 63, died after a brief battle with cancer on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 in Alexandria, VA. Richard was born on November 21, 1950 in Richfield, Utah. He was a graduate of Brigham Young University summa cum laude with a BA in History and served the Mormon Church as a missionary in Germany. Richard held several management positions in the non-profit world, including Houston Public Television, the Nature Conservancy and the National Association of Professional Engineers. Most recently, Richard served as head of membership at the American Anthropological Association. Richard is survived by his partner of 36 years, Steven Gray; sisters, Melanie Child and Trudy Whittaker of Corona, CA; brother, Sheridan Thomas of Surprise, AZ and many nieces and nephews in locales all across the country.
