Passed away peacefully at his home in Lewes, DE with his family, on Saturday, June 8, 2013. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Ann Mary Lewis and his son-in-law, John Kirk Armstrong. He is survived by his wife, Theresa of 51 years; his daughter, Cathleen Theresa and Julia Elizabeth Armstrong; and his grandson, Little Jon; his son, William Thomas and his wife, Anne Wise.
Bill, was born in Jacksonville Florida on July 4, 1930. His career in the US Air Force and the US Army started on October 5, 1950 and took him worldwide until retirement on May 1, 1974, he was a Korean War and Vietnam War Veteran who was awarded the Purple Heart, Commendation, Good Conduct, National Defense Service, Korean Service, Vietnam Service, United Nations Korea Service and the Vietnam Campaign Medals and other citations & awards for his service to his country.
After running his own Little Flower Business in Arlington VA, he and his wife retired to Lewes, DE in 2004 after spending weekends and summer vacations in the Lower Delaware since 1972.
A well-read man, who was multilingual (Spanish & Arabic). Bill enjoyed politics, a good book, all types of music and even a better a good conversation. He was a loyal family man, who will be deeply missed. Bill endured Parkinson's disease for over 20 years; however his prostate cancer was his last battle.
Services and burial will be held privately at the Millsboro Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
