Milton Bins Obituary
MILTON BINS (Age 75)
Passed away after a long illness on October 10, 2010, in Leesburg, Florida. He is survived by his loving wife, Adrienne; son, Gregory (Dorothy); stepson, Randall Jackson; sisters, Ronnie (Olu) and Annie Lee; grandchildren, Jennifer, John and Asia; great-granddaughter, Brooke Lynne; numerous relatives and a legion of friends. Born in Hazlehurst, Mississippi, Milton devoted his life to public service as a teacher, civic and political leader, and passionate advocate for public education. Services private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the United Negro College Fund.

When I came to DC in April 1989, Milton was one of my early mentors. The work he did with the Council of Great City Schools will long be remembered as will his service as a past Director of the White House Office on HBCUs and a presidential appointee of the President's Board of Advisors on HBCUs. Rest in peace my friend.

I was Milton's secretary at the Council of Great City Schools. He treated me as a member of the team which truly boosted my sense of self-esteem. He was one of the first Black Republicans that I met. He was a great inspiration. Rest in peace, a job well done on earth.
