THEODORE DUX PEYSER "Ted"  
On April 13, 2012, TED PEYSER, died of cancer at his home surrounded by family in Bethesda, MD. A noted tax litigator with the Washington office of Roberts & Holland, Ted was the author of several treatises on topics in tax litigation for BNA. Prior to entering private practice, Ted served over 30 years with the U.S. Department of Justice, holding the positions of trial attorney, chief, Claims Court Section and Special Litigation Counsel.Ted was born on April 16, 1929, in Washington, D.C. and was a lifelong resident of the greater Washington area. He graduated from the Sidwell Friends School in 1946, and enrolled in Princeton University. Graduating in 1950, he became a legal officer and lieutenant with the Navy during the Korean War. Upon his discharge, he completed his law degree at Yale Law School. Ted was a volunteer lawyer with the Veterans Consortium, advocating for denied benefits to veterans. He was an active member of the Sidwell Friends Alumni Board for many years and was a member of the Washington Hebrew Congregation throughout his life. Ted is survived by Marjorie M. Peyser, his wife and the love of his life for 57 years; their three children and their spouses, Bruce Peyser and Cynthia Shortell, Bill Peyser and Ann Viens Peyser and Patricia Peyser Perlmutter and Tom Perlmutter; eight grandchildren, Chris, Cara, Tim, Jeffrey and Carolyn Peyser, Brian, Julia and Elana Perlmutter; brother-in-law, Jerome F. Meyer and his wife, Naomi Meyer; and nieces, Pamela Meyer and Cynthia Truitt. He was preceded in death by his sister, Natalie Peyser Meyer. Services will be held April 15 at 9 a.m. at Washington Hebrew Congregation, 3935 Macomb St., NW., Washington, DC 20016. Interment Garden of Remembrance Memorial Park, Clarksburg, MD. Family will be receiving friends after the service at the residence of Bill and Ann Peyser. Contributions may be made to the Lombardi Cancer Center at Georgetown University. Services entrusted to Edward Sagel Funeral Direction.
