On Thursday, January 8, 2015, Robert Mark Nyikos of Gaithersburg, MD. Beloved husband of Patricia Nyikos; loving father of Amanda Nyikos; son of Julia and Stephen Nyikos, Broken Arrow, OK; brother of Michael and his wife Marty, Steven and his wife Pam, Lawrence and his late wife Patricia Ann, Marianne Burkitt and her husband Bob, John and his wife Melinda and the late James; brother-in-law of Norma. Many nieces, nephews, friends and his cat "Vegas" also survive him. Friends may call at DeVol Funeral Home, 10 E. Deer Park Drive, Gaithersburg, MD 20877 on Sunday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 9000 Warfield Road, Gaithersburg, MD 20882 on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. when the Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Patty and Amanda,
I have known Rob since 1971 from the old neighborhood in Indianapolis and was so happy he landed in my home state of Maryland. Learned he was winning the bids in my home county of Charles. We were able to visit a few times in Maryland but talked on the phone occasionally. I am sorry I no longer have that pleasure. He was always one of the kindest individuals I have ever known with a great sense of humor and wonderful smile. He was a gentleman always.
I am lucky to call him a real friend. I am deeply sorry for your loss. I know you have wonderful memories and I pray you are able to bring them to the front of your thoughts soon.
Also my condolences to his parents and siblings. Rob's passing
is a true loss to so many. I do and will miss him.

Deaer Nyikos Family,

I just today learned of Rob's passing, which is both unexpected and extremely saddening. I haven't seen Rob in several years, but worked on many projects with him. I always enjoyed seeing him, both professionally and personally. You always knew the food service portion of your project was in good hands...the hands of a real gentleman as well. He will be greatly missed by the design profession.
