James Herl Obituary

HERL, JAMES MICHAEL

Devoted son, friend and family member, died on Tuesday, January 21, 2003, from heart failure at The Washington Hospital Center. He was 49. Jim is survived by his mother, Josephine F. Herl; his brothers, Ron and George; sister-in-law, Jeri; nieces, Abigail Hilliard, Cory Grace and Jill Herl; and nephew, Christopher. Jim graduated from Bladensburg High School in 1972 and went on to The University of Maryland in College Park to obtain a Bachelor of Arts in Government and Politics. His love of politics brought him to serve as a County Councilman for Prince Georges County from 1982 - 1990, then as a Project Manager for the Maryland Department of Transportation. Jim will be greatly missed by all who knew him, and remembered well by all who encountered him. Relatives and friends may call the Evans Funeral Home, Rte. 450 and Race Track Rd., Bowie, MD on Monday, January 27, 2003 from 1 to 3 p.m., where memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Interment private.

Jim was just wonderful to work with at MDOT. He will be missed by many whose lives he brightened.
