LOUISE P. DETZEL
Peacefully at her home in Rockville, MD on Thursday, February 10, 2011. Beloved mother of Donald J. Detzel, Jr. Loving cousin of Patricia Edwards, Noreen Fessenden, Francis Dougherty. Loving godmother of Patrick Edwards. Mrs. Detzel is also survived by her former husband Donald J. Detzel, Sr. She will be missed by her cat Taffy. Mrs. Detzel was predeceased by her parents, Louis and Margaret Ploettner; her sister, Dorothy M. Keller and her longtime companion, Edward T. Brown, Sr. Friends will be received at PUMPHREY'S COLONIAL FUNERAL HOME, 300 West Montgomery Avenue (Rte. 28, exit 6-A just off I-270), Rockville, MD on Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., where service will be held on Tuesday, February 15 at 1 p.m. Interment Parklawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Montgomery County Humane Society, 14645 Rothgeb Drive, Rockville, MD 20850 or to the Rockville Volunteer Fire Department, 380 Hungerford Drive, Rockville, MD 20850. Don -- I am so sorry for your loss. Please know that your friends and family are there for you and that your mom will continue to live in your wonderful memories. I also want to share a beautiful poem that someone sent to me when my Mom died.
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow
I am a diamond glint on snow
I am sunlight on ripened grain
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awake in the morning hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds encircling flight
I am the soft star shine at night

Remembering Louise as part of my blessed childhood. Know she is thought of with joyful memories and that we now have an angel with a great sense of humor watching over us.
