BUCKLER, JAMES RICHARD "Jim"

On Saturday, Octobe 11, 2003, JAMES R. BUCKLER of Flower Farm in Kennett Square, PA, formerly of Charlotte Hall, MD. Beloved husband of Lena Deemer Buckler; brother of Laura Richardson, Barbara Callis, Henry, Joseph, David and Daniel Buckler. He is also survived by his stepson, Seldon Deemer and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Buckler was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret R. Buckler; his father, Henry L. Buckler and his sisters, Shirley and Roseann. Family and friends will be received on Friday at HUNTT FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3035 Old Washington Rd., Waldorf, MD from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where service will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2003 at 10 a.m. Interment St. Mary's Church Cemetery, Bryantown, MD. If desired memorial contributions may be made to the Lighthouse for the Blind. Mr. Buckler was the Director of the Smithsonian's Office of Horticulture from 1972 through 1990. He oversaw all the gardens within the museum. He was designer of the Enid A. Haupt Garden, which sits atop the National Museum of African Art, the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery in the international center.
