I remember him and my husband, Joe folding the American Flag at my dad's funeral. What an honor for dad to have a 3-Star General and a Green Beret Medic paying respects for his service in WWII as a Gunner's Mate. Every time Vaughn was in Williamsburg, he would come and see mom and dad. Vaughn's dad and my mother were siblings.

VO was the epitome of an Army Officer. Total professional and gentleman it was an honor to work with him. He always had your back and shared the work load. May God bless him and his family and friends always.

To the Lang Family
It's been nine years since VO transitioned, but still love telling everyone what a great person and friend he was. May God continue to bless the entire family.

Very hard to believe that it has been 5 years since V.O. passed away. Memories of working with him are as crisp as if they were yesterday because he was the consummate teammate; humble, extraordinarily competent and never imposed or implied his rank. Balanced Survivability Assessments (BSAs) were something he enjoyed with us. No more dead-end budget cutting exercises inherent in a senior officer's job...he enjoyed getting his teeth into real work, a chance to be a soldier again and we loved him for it.
Rest in Peace V.O.;you are very missed,
Angelo Cicolani

I am so sorry to hear of General Lang's passing. I worked under V.O. when he was on active duty in the mid 1980s. His responsibilities at the time were great and I'm sure very heavy.
He was a leader who personified the ideal army officer. I will never forget him.

In the Army, the great praise a soldier can receive is "that he was a good soldier." Indeed Gen Lang was a good soldier. Very few men are made of the charter and strength of the General. Tom Kenavan, Last Chief of the Washington ROW

Rest In Peace Sir,

I and many of my colleagues met V.O. Lang in his last great assignment. Later, we knew him as a team member conducting Balanced Survivability Assessments for the then Defense Nuclear Agency. A more humble and competent professional did not exist. Many of us never knew that he was a retired Army three-star. All of us, from whatever service or civilian background admired him and will sorely miss this great American. I hope that the Lang family can take comfort and pride in who V.O. Lang was and what he did for his country.
Sorrowfully,
Angelo G. Cicolani
