Hank is my second cousin. My mother was named after his Mom, our Great Aunt Dodo... He had an exotic multi-cultural background and lived through the rise of the Nazi party in Germany. His Mom was born on Long Island and raised in a German speaking family and then moved to Bremen after marrying Henry Sr.in 1919. She worked with the US consulate in Bremen and that was their salvation after the Nazis expropriated all they had. She eventually became one of the first female foreign service employees and when they escaped from Germany she went to work for the USG. They later were posted to Honduras...and he then returned to Germany in the post war period to assist the US civil administration. He was the most patient, kind person and treated all alike. He had lived so much and knew people intuitively. His passing is a great loss and our hearts go out to Margaret and the family.

Dear Margaret: Karen and I were so saddened to learn of Hank's passing. Hank was indeed a "giant" of a man whose influence was far reaching, and his loss will be felt on so many levels. He truly was a person whose dedication and commitment to his family, friends, neighbors and community made our world a better place in which to live. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. God bless. Warmest Regards, Ed and Karen

Hank was a mentor. I never failed to ask his opinion and advice. To this day, I have modeled my career and life on his model. Do well by your clients, friends, keep an open mind, and give back to your community. Not a day goes by that I didnt think, what would Hank do? My deepest condolences to the family. Our community has lost a giant.

It was such a privilege to know Hank Lampe. I think I will most miss his kindness and keen mind. And that, knowing my Quaker background, he would use plain speech with me from his time at Westtown Friends School. Hank had a wonderful way of making everyone feel special. His gifts will last in all the kind, helpful and smart things he did for so many over his very full life.

I remember Hank Lampe as always being an important part of my family's life and was relied on for his wit, knowledge of people and how they tick and love of life. I had the pleasure of renewing this life-long friendship over the past few years and am so very grateful to have had that time with Hank. Hank, you will be missed but always in our hearts.

This is indeed the passing of a giant of a man who greatly influenced and helped to shape northern Virginia. Hank had an uncanny knack for bringing consensus about with wit and good will. Margaret, you are in my prayers especially through this time of loss. I pray that the warmth of special memories gives you strength and peace. Jane Woods
