JOSEPH G. ACKER, V
On Monday, December 6, 2010 of Arlington, VA. Beloved husband of Judy Acker; loving father of Jennifer L. (Walter) Whimpenny and Joseph G. (Allyson) Acker, VI; grandfather of Christopher and Kaitlynn Whimpenny, Mia, Joseph G. "Jase" VII and Eva Acker; brother of Kathy and Carlton Acker. Services will be held at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME OF ARLINGTON, 4510 Wilson Blvd. on Thursday, December 9 at 2:30 p.m. Interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lombardi CCC Development, GU Office of Advancement, 3300 Whitehaven St., N.W., Suite 4000, Washington, DC 20007. Donors can either write "the in memory of name" on memo line of check or enclose a note with donation.

I was Joe's Executive Assistant in 2009. He was a wonderful boss, friend and mentor. We would have long conversations on family, work and travels. I will miss him but know he is looking down and wondering why I am not working and writing this. :-)

Joe was a wonderful boss - I enjoyed every minute I spent working for him at SOCMA. He was truly a mentor to me and he will be missed.
