Carl Amthor Obituary



AMTHOR CARL B. AMTHOR Carl B. Amthor, age 74, of McLean, VA died on February 22, 2009 at Sunrise Assisted Living, McLean, VA. He was born on May 16, 1934 in Port Washington, NY to the late Franklin and Alma Amthor. Carl was a veteran of the United States Army and retired as the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Carl was the beloved husband of 22 years of Jacqueline Hamilton Amthor; loving and devoted father of Lindsay Amthor Yotsukura of Brookeville, MD and Geoffrey Ryder Amthor of Atlanta, GA; stepfather of Mark Hamilton of Carbondale, CO and Paul Hamilton of Glenwood Springs, CO; proud grandfather of seven grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 7 at 2 p.m. at St. Francis Episcopal Church, 9220 Georgetown Pike, Great Falls, VA 22066. Flowers gratefully declined.
