We all lost one of those people that was extremely special, he had a unique way of making everyone he encountered in life, like if not love him, with his own unique wit, sense of humor and the way the world around us was according to Doug. He did not have a mean bone in his body, he loved his family and friends and that dang cat Shady. :) I'm going to miss him so much, his stories, his greetings I'd like to think were just for me, his favorite niece. ( Of course I was his only niece.) Please give mommom a hug and kiss for me, and tell her I think of and miss her oftern!!

Ok Doug Sharp, we have been great friends for over 40 years and we have been through just about every life experience there is both good and bad. Having you there the whole way was a blessing and a comfort to me and I am eternally grateful. Now you move on to see some of our fallen friends like Eleinsky, The Scrim and his dog Doug and many many more. Save a slot in the ring game up there for me. But I don't want to follow The Scrim.

Doug was more than a friend or mentor to me. He was a very close friend - so much so he was truly family. He taught me a lot about life as well as pool. Of the close friends a person has, very few can be credited with contributing to a person becoming the person they are today. Doug was that for me. I am forever grateful for being able to have known him. He was loved greatly and will be greatly missed.
God Bless,
Dan Reid

Doug,
You are one of the best persons God placed on this earth. You had a contagious personality, smile and laughter that would make anyone's heart smile. I loved the years that we shared while you were living in Glenmont. I loved hearing your stories of the railroad and your day to day experiences. I especially loved your friendship and only wished I had shared more time with you in recent years.
Doug, you are very special and will always be loved by everyone. Here's a big hug for you! And don't ever let it go! When I think of you, I always remember how much happiness your brought to everyone's lives.
Love,
Barbara Brito

Douggie Fresh, Thanks for all of the memories that we shared together as Amtrak's Conductors. You were an icon that was appreciated by our whole Amtrak team. Your help continued my career...through the rain, snow, sleat,90-100 degree weather, you made me throw the first switch, tie on the brakes, and spot the train correctly. You were the best pool player that I personally knew. Hey man, we had so much fun together as co-workers. Thanks for all the memories. Love you Man!!and may your Spirit be directed towards Heaven.

Doug had an acid wit, a terrific stroke, and a heart as big as a house. The Washington pool community has truly lost one of its most beloved members.

You are quite a character, Doug Sharp. Always quick with a smile, and with your own pleasing mannerisms and humor. Your frequent unique rendition of 'Have a nice day' said in Doug Sharp style plays in my head. And oh, that twinkle in your eye! My condolences to your family and friends. I will miss you and think of you often. Oh, and thanks for all your help with my 'stroke.' Love, Susan
