To the family of Mr. Spearman, we offer our most heartfelt condolences. He certainly left a legacy of many accomplishments as a gentleman and a scholar. As you each take one day a step at a time and hold on to your many loving memories, may God grant you strength to see each day through (2 Corinthians 4:7).--Jones Family

Reading about Mr. Spearman made me think about the many people he must have impacted. I am sure many are proud to have known him. I am so sorry to hear about this great loss. I pray that as family and friends of Mr. Spearman you are comforted by the many good memories. The words at Is. 25:8 have brought me consolation during time of loss and I hope that it does the same for you.

I had the pleasure of working with Bob at Adams, McCullough and Beard in the early 90s. He was a true gentleman, as well as being one of the best lawyers I ever knew. I loved his pin-striped summer suit! I am sorry that Bob has gone, but his legacy will live on. Sincere condolences to the Spearman family.

Bob and I grew up together as good friends in Chapel Hill and shared camping, hiking, and winter midnight "emergency mobilization" adventures in Scout Troop 39, as well as school classes, pick-up sports, and much more until his departure for Groton in 1957. Reunited by the Morehead Foundation at UNC in 1961, we saw less of one another than we might have liked at UNC, but did share work in the Grail and other organizations, and in later years we kept in sporadic touch despite never living in the same state or seeing one another face-to-face more than twice again. Bob's sharp sense of humor and easy comraderie balanced his intenseand unique brilliance and drive; it is hard for anyone who knew him well to imagine him not being there somewhere fighting for the right causes and making everyone around him better for his presence. Rest in peace, old friend!

Bob was a classmate at UNC. He was the smartest guy I ever met. His family was gracious and welcoming to all of us.
