I am thinking of you today as you say goodbye to Dori. We will all miss her. She was a unwavering supportive person in my life and I am deeply grateful. Drummond Avenue will never be the same without her. I am sorry that I am unable to be with you during this time. Sending my love to Jane and Tim and the family.

What a good life she led. It was a pleasure to know her through ICOMOS and the Mortons. Terry spoke of her often and will miss her very much.
USICOMOS

It is with great sadness that the members and staff of US/ICOMOS learn of the passing of long time member and supporter Dorothy (Dori) Carroll. Mrs. Carroll was an invaluable volunteer at US/ICOMOS for many years. Her husband, M. Elliott Carroll, FAIA, FAPT, who passed away in 2004, served as the Chairman of US/ICOMOS from 1986-1990 and as an International Vice President of ICOMOS from 1990-1996. Both were tireless champions for international understanding and cultural exchange. Together, they will be remembered for their many kindnesses, including the fellowship they shared with successive generations of US/ICOMOS international summer interns. The welcome receptions they threw annually at the their Chevy Chase home are to this day recalled fondly by former interns around the globe. As recently as one month ago, Mrs. Carroll, aged 92, had agreed to lend her name to ceremonies occurring later this year marking the 50th anniversary of the foundng of US/ICOMOS. Her absence, now, from that program will be deeply felt by the many friends and colleagues whom she touched.

I had the previledge of knowing Mrs. Carroll over the past few years, and assist her in her physical recovery efforts. A very special , sweet and strong person, who was brave and rarely complained. I will miss you dear Dori. Rest in peace. Daphna , home physical therapist.

My sympathies to the family in your loss of Dorothy. May the God of all comfort (Psalm 83:18) give you the strength to endure this difficult time.

My name is Margaret J. Denekas. I just moved here to Severna Park, Maryland. I am the daughter of Willis R. Denekas. He knew as DJ in Hawaii, while there during the World War II. DJ was one of the first and favorite girl friends of my Dad. I remember meeting you and Elliot. Both of you seemed so extremely nice. I know that your family is going to miss you. You are now going to be reunited with Elliot, your son, and Willis R Denekas. May you rest in peace, and my God fill your family with His comfort and love during this extremely hard time of loss. God Bless you all!

I will miss our beloved Dori very much. She had a wonderful positive outlook and seemed to be always smiling. I had wonderful times with her. We had lots of laughs -- and serious conversations also. She was quite a lady.
Love,
Paula (Alman)
