I can´t believe that it has been 12 years since we lost Bubby. I have many fond memories of him. Until we meet again, rest in peace my dear friend.

I attended my very first baseball game on August 8, 1964 -- the day after my 8th birthday. My dad and I rode the South Shore train to Chicago from South Bend, IN. The White Sox were playing the Red Sox that afternoon, and we were seated in the right field stands -- two of the 7,039 in attendance that day per Baseball reference (https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CHA/CHA196408080.shtml)
Fred Talbot was on the mound against Dave Morehead, and had an easy outing as Chicago spotted him an 8-0 lead after three innings. I remember the early lead, the two starting pitchers, the right fielders (Floyd Robinson and Mike Hershberger for Chicago and Lee Thomas for Boston), and the back-to-back home runs in the ninth by Boston's Tony Horton and Dick Williams. Horton's HR was the first of his career.
I Googled Fred's obituary to see if the Fred Talbot who just moved into our neighborhood in Bradenton, FL, might be his son but, sadly, I learned that Fred III passed before his father.
Thanks, Fred, for helping turn me into a lifelong baseball fan.

It is 2023 and I just searched "Fred Talbot" on a whim and baseball fan. What well-deserved tributes meaningfull even 10 years after he died.
We were classmates at McLean High before he left for Fairfax High. Great guy, great personality and all around top athlete. Had nice conversations with him, and his McLean HI many friends at a reunion at Jim Roberson's farm near Nokesville, VA. As I recall, Jim and Bill Leshear took Bubby to Cooperstown, NY before he was too ill to travel. Precious memories...how they linger.

Just wanted to say again how much I miss Fred and how he was my idol growing up. I truly miss going to his house in Falls Church talking baseball with him and his phone calls talking baseball and how the game has changed since he had played, Fred was one of a kind, a great guy. Rest in peace Fred.

I was going through mementos from my childhood. I found a signed baseball that Fred Talbot had the Seattle Pilots team do upon the death of my father in 1969. My father, Joseph Cofer, taught industrial arts at Fairfax HS, and apparently made an impression on Mr. Talbot. His kindness helped ease the loss of my dad, and I never had a chance to thank him. God Rest his Kind Soul. Thank you, Joe Cofer

"Bubby" was an idol at Fairfax High School. Great memories as a kid watching him play football and baseball. Was the benchmark for all. Mike '63 FHS

Fred Talbot was a nice pitvher on weak yankee teams..his name is often invoked by Yankee fans of the era when describing thr circa late 1960's teams or in light hearted reminices of the same. He pitched 7 innings at Yankee Stadium 7/9/66 the first game I ever attended. Having gone to over 1200 major league he will always be the man who threw the 1st pitch! Peaceful eternal rest to Fred Talbot.

Uncle Bubby was my mother's brother. My mother Harriette, now lives in Florida. I have many fond memories of my Uncle, but I am most grateful for his call when I was diagnosed with cancer in 2010. He gave me the locker room "you got to get up and fight" speech. He really encouraged me and I loved him for that. His wife, my Aunt Kay, was the most beautiful, glamourous, woman I had ever seen as a little girl and remained so until her death. Now they are together again with their beloved son Freddie. So I say to you Val what he said to me. "There are going to be hard days girl; you got to get up and fight." All my love.

I came to love Fred as a friend and teammate. He was the funniest, most original character I've ever known.

I sent the obit to my brother Tom Talbot extended his condolences to Charlotte, Nora, Fred's daughter and the rest of the famliy. Tom drove my aunts to McClean in 1959 so that my aunts Ruth and Alice Talbot could visit their first cousin--Fred's father. Fred was playing with the White Sox at that time, Tom said. Even though we weren't close mostly because of the proximity--family is family and it's sad that we're dwindling. I'm 75 and Tom is 73. Esther Talbot Fenning--St. Charles, Missouri.

I am proud to say that Fred was a dear friend of mine. Being ten years younger and living down the street from him, I idolized Fred. Fred's father would take me to D.C. stadium to watch Fred play. Many a night I would lie in bed and get the New York radio station and listen to the game that Fred was pitching in staying up much too late on a school night. I will cherish the times visiting Fred at his home having pizza and listening to his many baseball stories. Rest in peace Fred, I will miss you.

So so sorry for the suffering and death of this man--who I never met yet who I feel kinship. He was my second cousin. Our grandfathers immigrated from England together--mine Thomas Lealand Talbot to NY and his (john Lealand Talbot) to Virginia. Esther Talbot Fenning
