Larger than life with a heart of gold, every time I think about McDonalds cheeseburgers, I think of Pat. You couldn't miss his physical presence and strength only surpassed by his faith.

Betty, my deepest sympathies for the loss of your husband Patrick. It may be God's will and that he is where he belongs, but for you... the daily living must go on. It is the hardest challenge to face, so be gentle with yourself and true to your soul. Peace be with you and all his and your families. I know you'll have wonderful support. Blessings,

He was that fun-loving guy on the other end of your cellphone one day when Betty let me use her phone for car-problems. As I was dialing for assistance, Pat was calling Betty, unbeknowing that she had lended her cellphone to me. "Hey Baby", "Who is this", "Who do you want it to be?"...."ummmmm, I'm going to hang up now..." Betty had to call him back and tell him she had loaned her phone to someone. It was so hillarious.

My husband, Robert, and I moved in next door to Betty and Patrick almost 6 years ago just as my son, Robbie, was finishing up preschool. We found a toy truck on the lawn, so we placed near our mailbox, assuming that the forgotten toy would be retrieved by the child-owner. The next morning, the truck was on our porch. A few days later, we found another new toy on our front lawn, and then another. We soon discovered that they were gifts from Patrick. Patrick was a loving, caring, and forgiving man with a strong faith in God and a giving spirit. He was the first to not only offer help, but to take it upon himself to provide help. He loved his mother, his wife, his family, his church, and his community. Our hearts weep for the loss of our wonderful friend.

We join you in mourning our dear friend and brother in Christ, Pat. His life, love and willingness to share his powerful testimony have impacted our family – and I'm sure countless others – for eternity. We are so grateful to Pat, Betty and Rose for loving, supporting and lifting up our family in times of need. Pat is incredibly missed already by all his friends at Southview. What a privilege to have called him our friend. Yet we do not mourn as those with no hope and rejoice that he is right now in the very presence of the Lord and Savior that he loved so deeply. Betty and Rose, my heart goes out to you and I pray God heals your broken heart. Rose, I know what is like to lose a son. I lost mine early in his life too.

Betty, I know Pat was more than just your husband. He was your friend, your confidant, and your lover. God has decided to take him for an important task and give you another assignment. Remember this: God never gives you something you cannot handle. In time, you will find out what God has assigned to you. I pray that God quickly heals your open wound.

With love,

Rene

I can't begin to fathom the many daily ways Mike & I will miss you, Patrick... My heart breaks for you Betty, and Rose too. May God grant you both with the strength, comfort, and peace that you will need as you adjust to life without Patrick. I'm just so grateful for your large wonderful support net - we're here. Anytime...

Patrick truly was one of the most generous and intelligent people we've ever known – generous with his love, his time, his money, his food, his big boy tools, his compliments and of course, his amazing stories and boy, could he spin them!

One of my favorite regular exchanges with "Booboo" - Patrick: "that's a mighty fine looking (fill in the blank) you got there Reema Ayoub!" Reema: "why, that's mighty kind of you Patrick Crapps!" Rest in peace my friend, but know that your work is not yet done where your buddy "Minnekus" is concerned...

Love and Blessings to you all - Reema & Mike
