Uncle Jim was a quiet good man. I remember him playing restaurant with us on the back porch as a little girl. He loved riding his bike, reading and visiting Native American grounds in Georgia! Hope he is resting in peace in Heaven and we will meet again someday.

I worked with Jim in the International Trade Administration of the Department of Commerce and never met a finer man or more dedicated worker. His expertise was valued by all of his co-workers and colleagues, and equally impressively by the myriad foreign ambassadors and embassy staffers with whom he became acquainted over his career. More important, Jim lived his faith and loved his family; the world needs more like him.

I don't know if this is the same Jim Devlin that I knew in Sacred Heart parish and he used to live on Columbia Road. I have pictures of our Young Adults Club going skiing with Eugene Seethaler of Austria who was a good friend of Jim. If you have a photograph of him that would help. Otherwise, the details fit in with the Jim that my husband John and I knew. Please let me know. John retired in 1997 from the ICC which was next door to Commerce. John died in 2006 at 65.

The Chevy Chase Branch Library benefited enormously from the volunteer efforts of Jim Devlin. It seemed like every day he was at the library working to raise money for us, and everyone at the library adored him. He made this world a far, far better place to be. His humility was an extraordinary example to us all.

Dear Aunty Evy, Christina, Gregory and Laura,

I have such fond memories of Uncle Jim. Sitting in his chair reading the paper, riding his bike, getting excited when he talked about a trip he had taken. I take comfort in knowing that he is in heaven with Jesus and all the Saints. I picture him riding his bike there. I am going to have a tree planted in his name in the City Of Mountain Park. He would have loved it here. God Bless you all.

Dear Evy and family,
Our prayers and thoughts have been with you over the past few days.
I certainly will remember Jim as a close friend and a kind and gentle man. I am left with many warm memories of his easy laugh and our many good times together. Jim was always wonderfully engaging in conversation and great fun to be with. He was a great friend. I'm very grateful we were able to stay in touch over the years.
Cathy also has wonderful memories of our visit with you in D.C. and your visit with us.
