Of Springfield, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2012. Ann was born in Washington, DC to the late Harry M. and Esther I. Carver. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, Roy F. Blanchard. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Laura Lee MacKay (Donald). Ann is survived by her children, Mark L. Blanchard, Marcia Rose (Wayne) and Roy F. Blanchard II (Frances). She was the caring grandmother to: Kelly Schilling (Daniel), Matthew Harrison, Jacob Harrison and Rebecca Harrison. Ann also cared greatly for her great-grandchildren: Natalie Harrison, Caleb Schilling and Leah Schilling. She will be missed by her sisters, Lee Muller and Linda McReynolds (Michael) and many other relatives and friends. An Eastern High School graduate and DC Teachers College student, Ann was an administrative assistant at both NOVA Community College, Alexandria campus and a private Fairfax law firm. Ann's retirement provided time to be an active volunteer, Circle member and Bible study participant at Messiah United Methodist Church. Ann was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She lived for and loved her family and church, but mostly enjoyed visiting and caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her broad smile was infectious and inviting, her warmth and compassion unequalled, her kindness and charity freely given, and her faith unshakeable. Ann is dearly missed but will never be forgotten by her church, her friends and neighbors. Most of all Ann will forever be lovingly remembered by her family. A Memorial service will be held at Messiah United Methodist Church, 6215 Rolling Rd., Springfield, VA. on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ann's memory to: Burke Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department.
