Anne Lorena Lillie of Alexandria, Virginia, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2012 at the Halquist Memorial Inpatient Center in Arlington, Virginia. She was 90 years old.
Born November 23, 1921, in Eureka, Wisconsin, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Lawrence Lillie, Jr. Lt. Col. USMC (Ret.); by a son, John Craig Lillie; by her parents, Roscoe Demmon Butman and Mae Conway Butman; by her sister, Dorothy Butman Foster; and by her brother, Raymond Conway Butman.
She is survived by three sons, James Lawrence Lillie III (Dana) of Mineral, Virginia, Thomas Jack Lillie (Lu) of Manassas, Virginia, and Steven Paul Lillie (Carol) of Garrett Park, Maryland; by five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Anne was an active member of Lincolnia United Methodist Church for more than fifty years and served in multiple capacities at the church's district and conference levels.
Well known for her positive outlook on life, she always believed that if she couldn't say something nice it was best to say nothing at all.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will take place at 1 p.m., on Saturday, November 17, 2012, at Lincolnia United Methodist Church, 6335 Little River Turnpike, Alexandria, Virginia 22312.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Anne's name to Lincolnia United Methodist Church.
