MEDLIN ANNE L. MEDLIN (Age 87) Died Thursday, November 1, 2012 at her residence in Alexandria, VA. Born October 6, 1925 in Johnstown, PA. She was the daughter of the late William A. and Leona A. Reiber. Mrs. Medlin is survived by her sons David F. Platt of Thomas, WV and William S. Platt of Alexandria, VA. She is also survived by her sister, Jane R. Quirk of Kutztown, PA, her granddaughter Leslie Blake of Wasilla, Alaska and her great grandsons Bobby and Billy Blake of Wasilla, Alaska. After divorcing her first husband and father of David and William in 1960, she moved to Alexandria, VA. A fiercely independent women with limited financial resources, she raised two children and purchased a home in Alexandria, VA in 1963. Shortly there after she met Will A. Medlin and married him in 1967. Will Medlin passed away in 1992. Her accomplishments include a lifelong history of employment. In order they are: prior to 1960, Cambria County, PA, 1960 Bell and Howell, 1967 Arlington Rug Corporation in which she and Will ran a family business together. Anne retired from her final employment from the National School Boards Association in the early 1990s. Her special hobbies and achievements include Bridge, antique collecting, travel, and an innate ability to maintain contracts with friends and family over a span of over eighty years. Anne was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Alexandria, VA. The family will receive friends at Jefferson Funeral Chapel, 5755 Castlewellan Dr. Alexandria, VA on Thursday, November 8, 2012, between the hours of 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Louis Catholic Church, 2907 Popkins Ln. Alexandria, VA on Friday at 10:30 a.m. followed by burial at Quantico National Cemetery. Food and refreshments will be offered at Waterford Receptions, 6715 Commerce St. Springfield, VA, following the burial from approximately 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. All interested persons are encouraged to attend.
