AUBREY JOSEPH BOURGEOIS  Rear Admiral USN (Ret.)
Rear Admiral (RADM) Aubrey Joseph Bourgeois, SC, USN, Ret., died peacefully in Pensacola, FL on December 4, 2011, three days shy of his 104th birthday. At the time of his death, RADM Bourgeois was the oldest living graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, where he lettered in Track & Field and from which he graduated in 1930. Born December 7, 1907 in Paulina, LA to Joseph Louis and Victoria Poche Bourgeois, RADM Bourgeois was married to Marguerite Heuss Bourgeois for over 69 years, until her death in 2004. RADM Bourgeois' distinguished, 33-year naval career included tours in the Pacific, China, the Philippines, Japan, Indo China, the U.K., Alaska, Washington, DC and Hawaii. He is survived by his three children: Aubrey (Josephine) of Annandale, VA; Suzanne (Louis) Rabil of Washington, DC; and Judith (Pete, deceased) Jensen of Atlanta, GA. Other survivors include six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two nieces. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Marguerite, and adored oldest grandson, Robert Rabil. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on December 7 in Pensacola. Donations in RADM Bourgeois' memory should be sent to the USNA Alumni Association, Nativity Catholic Church (Pensacola, FL) or a charity of choice.

As a child, I remember his visits along with "Aunt" Marguerite and his children, most especially Judy. I had already moved to New Orleans when "Uncle" Aubrey and "Aunt" Marguerite moved to Paulina to take care of his aging mother. However, my parents would tell me about them when I'd go home to visit.
You maybe wondering about the references to "Aunt" and "Uncle", but that's because they were my Sister-in-law's aunt & uncle. That's how it is in the South, we adopt each others relatives. My brother , Jewel married Claire, Aubrey's niece.
I was blessed to attend Uncle Aubrey's 100th birthday party. What a wonderful honor for him. However, the visits I enjoyed the most were on the two separate occasions that I was able to take Chris and Andree to visit him while they were in Mobile. What a nice man who dearly loved his family. I believe you are blessed to have the parents you had. Many blessings. Carol Hymel Ardizone

To all the family and friends of Admiral-
I will surely miss him as well, I was always proud to be his CPA and help him over the years. My visits to him were always full of history and stories. I also had the pleasure of meeting Marguerite when they first moved to Pensacola and Azalea Trace. May God continue to Bless all his family and may we all continue to have the best memories!
