BARBARA BRAY LYNCH  

Barbara Bray Lynch of Springfield, Virginia passed away on October 2, 2012. Born in Boston, MA, on July 6, 1929, Mrs. Lynch attended Boston State Teachers' College (now, University of Massachusetts) and began her teaching career in Boston. She married her now deceased husband, Francis X. Lynch, in 1952 and had three children: Daniel F. Lynch, of Burke, Grace E. Lynch and Joan M. Lynch both of Alexandria. The family moved to Virginia in 1968.
 
Mrs. Lynch taught sixth grade for the Fairfax County Public Schools for over 20 years. She was a founding member of the Accotink Unitarian/Universalist Church in Burke and was an early and active member of George Mason University's Osher Learning in Retirement in Fairfax.
 
Mrs. Lynch was a member of several book clubs and helped organize a public affairs salon. She travelled extensively and enjoyed theater and reading.
 
Mrs. Lynch is survived by her children and grandchildren: Heather J. Lynch of Port Jefferson, NY, Brendan Bray Gilmartin of Brooklyn, NY and Rory F. Gilmartin of New York City. She is also survived by her great-grandchild, Avery Eisaman of Port Jefferson.
 
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2 p.m. at the Accotink Unitarian Universalist Church at 10125 Lakehaven Court, Burke, VA.
 
Donations can be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the Accotink Unitarian Universalist Church.
