BARBARA HARRIS  
 

Barbara Harris died peacefully on August 1, 2012 at her home after a courageous, twelve-year bout against Lymphoma. She was born in Queens, New York on August 10, 1929.
 
Barbara was a devoted educator and inspiring teacher in the public school systems in New York and Connecticut for over twenty-five years. Later, as an entrepreneur, she co-founded a leading civic and leadership education organization to which she dedicated the remainder of her life.
 
Barbara is survived by two sons, two daughters, seven grandchildren, her sister-in-law, her uncle, and several cousins.
 
The family will be receiving visitors at the JOSEPH A. GAWLER'S and SONS FUNERAL HOME, 5130 Wisconsin Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C. Saturday, August 4, 2012, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., and respectfully requests that no flowers be sent.
 
A memorial service will be held Sunday, August 5, 2012 at 1 p.m., in the chapel of the Gawler's Funeral Home.
