BARBARA V. EVANS  

Barbara V. Evans, a longtime McLean Trusts and Estates lawyer, died February 8, 2013 in Tierra Verde, Florida. The cause of death was cancer. Ms. Evans was born in Providence, Rhode Island August 22, 1930 to Ralph Veroneau and Lucille Casey. She graduated in 1948 from Holy Family High School, New Bedford, Ma., in 1948, from what is now Misericordia University in 1952, and Boston University School of Law in 1955. The last two institutions awarded her academic scholarships. She began her career as a trusts and estates lawyer with what is now the firm of Goodwin Procter, Boston Ma. and continued as a trusts and estates associate at what is now Miller Canfield, Detroit, Mi. Ms. Evans began a law practice in McLean in 1984, and retired June 3, 2011. She was admitted to practice in Massachusetts, Michigan, Virginia and the District of Columbia.
Ms. Evans formerly served as Trustee of Birmingham, Mi. Community House and Misericordia University. She was a past president and board member of the McLean Bar Association and was a charter performing member of both McLean Choral Society and the New Dominion Chorale. She belonged to Washington Golf and Country Club and Isla del Sol Yacht and Country Club, St. Petersburg, Fl.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, retired insurance executive Charles L. Evans, Jr of Somers, NY and Tierra Verde, FL; three sons: C. Lawrence Evans (Susan) of Williamsburg, VA, John Casey Evans of Berryville, VA, and Robert David Evans (Eileen) of Dobbs Ferry, NY, and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at St. Mary Our Lady of Grace R.C. Church in St. Petersburg, FL.
