Basil Paddock Obituary





PADDOCK BASIL VAUGHN PADDOCK Basil Vaughn Paddock, 86, passed away on June 24, 2009 at home in a very peaceful manner surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Richmond, Indiana, and is the son of Clarence and Besse Tibbets Paddock. He was a birthright Quaker and member of "First Friends" church in Richmond. He travelled extensively in the United States and numerous foreign countries. He maintained his residence in Alexandria, Virginia in the Fort Hunt Road area since 1970, and attended the "Aldersgate United Methodist Church" on Fort Hunt Road. Basil was a World War II Veteran. He served in England, France, and Germany from 1943 to 1946 prior to the invasion, during the invasion; and through to V-E day. He was a 32" Master Mason and a member of the Seoul, Korea Bodies Lodge during the ten years that he lived in Seoul while working for the Department of Defense. He was a Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Financial Government Manager, Certified Business Manager, and member of several financial associations. He was also a member of the SHAPE Officers Association where he served as an International Staff Officer from 1959-1970. In addition to his wartime service, he served the department of defense as a staff civilian Officer for over 50 years in various positions in Paris, France; Belgium; Seoul, Korea; and Washington D.C. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 23 years, Yeon; his son Lloyd of Palmdale, CA; his daughter Cheryl of las Vegas, NM; his sister Beverly of South Pasadena, FL; his three grandchildren; his wife''s Parents, brother, three sisters and their families; and his many friends. He was previously married to Ghislaine Crepeaux Paddock, deceased, mother of his children for over 35 years. A celebration of his life will be conducted on June 25 by the Reverend Dennis Paris at the Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 1301 Collingwood Road, Alexandria, VA 22308 (located at the intersection of Fort Hunt Road and Collingwood Road). Service will begin with an 11 a.m. viewing and a 12 noon service and reception, followed by a 3 p.m. burial at Fairfax Memorial Park located at 9900 Braddock Rd, Fairfax, VA 22032.
