Betty Ann Starkey, 81, passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Center located in Bolivia, NC. Mrs. Starkey was born in Alexandria, VA on August 23, 1931. She was predeceased by her parents, Robert E Dove and Olive Owens Dove as well as her husband Richard Allen Starkey. She is survived by two children, Terry Downey and Richard Starkey II; one son-in-law, Mike Downey; three grandchildren, Brian D'Amico (Tahiris), Jason D'Amico and Kelly Downy; one great grandchild, Adrianna D'Amico; two sisters, Lillian V. Cooper and Margaret C. Padgett; five sisters-in-law, Sue Minor, June Edward, Ann Wright, Margy Starkey and Mary Starkey as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Viewing will be held on Sunday, November 4, 2012 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Cunningham Funeral Home, Alexandria, VA. A Life Celebration service will be held on Monday, November 5, 2012 at 12 noon at Cunningham Funeral Home to be followed by interment at Mt. Comfort Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, SECU Care Center, 955 Mercy Lane, S.E., Bolivia, NC 28422.
