BETTY LENSON KATZNER (Age 72)  

Betty Lenson Katzner, 72, of Washington, DC, died on November 16, 2012 from complications following a ruptured aortic aneurysm. She was the beloved wife of 36 years to the late Kenneth Katzner; loving sister of Peggy Clark, and devoted aunt to Susan Berndt, Jenny Kuhlmann, John Weil, Maggie Walker, David Katzner, Deborah Shepley, Daniel Katzner, and 12 grandnieces and grandnephews.
 
She was born in Altoona, PA on April 19, 1940 to Max and Hilda Wolk Lenson. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from Long Island University in comparative languages and spent an exciting career in media and international affairs, working at the United Nations as a radio producer, writer, interviewer and announcer; NBC News on NBC-TV's "Meet the Press"; the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace on the Face-to-Face program; Johns Hopkins School for Advanced International Studies as director for the U.S.-Soviet Cooperation Program; and as an international affairs consultant to the East-West Forum, supported by the Samuel Bronfman Foundation.
 
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Danzansky-Goldberg Memorial Chapel in Rockville, MD. The family will be receiving friends at the residence of Mrs. Katzner's sister, Peggy Clark. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to WETA-TV, the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies Scholarship Fund, the , or the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies of Greater Washington.
