Passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at age 85. Beloved wife of the late John F. Ellsworth. Survived by cherished family of sister, Mary D. Wright (Frank Wright), niece Suzanne Wright (Rustin Quaide) and great niece, Adrianna Quaide, as well as two generations of Ellsworth nieces and nephews in New England, and a host of loving friends. Brenda was born and lived all of her life in the Washington, DC area. Her family roots were in Massachusetts and West Virginia. She graduated from Chevy Chase Junior College and attended the University of Maryland. She retired in 1980 from a long career at the Department of State. She took great pleasure in reading, traveling (cross-country USA, Europe, Japan, England, Ireland, and Canada), art, dance, theater, and movies. She loved being with, and nurturing, her family and friends, who will miss her sorely. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Brenda's name to The Phillips Collection, 1600 21st Street, NW, Washington, DC 20009 or the Marginal Way Preservation Fund, P.O. Box 1455, School Street, Ogunquit, ME 03907. The Marginal Way is a beautiful location along the Atlantic coast in Ogunquit, ME which Brenda loved and visited annually.
