On Saturday, December 8, 2012 at his home in Alexandria, VA. Husband of Shirleeta Wilburn Gatlin; father of Donna Ware, Melvin Foster, Kenneth Jackson, Carl Gatlin, Jr., Michael Gatlin, Michelle Thompson (Rodney) and Toyri Brandon (Troy). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; one great- grandchild; brothers, James Swanigan (Winnie), Oscar Gatlin, Jr. (Inge) and Donell Gatlin (Hattie); sisters, Theresa Freeman, Costella Knox-Shamsiddin (Earl) and Sue Phillips and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends in the chapel of Greene Funeral Home, 814 Franklin St., Alexandria, VA 22314 on Thursday, December 13, 2012 from 7 until 9 p.m. A funeral will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church, 1401 Duke St., Alexandria, VA 22314 on Friday, December 14, 2012 at 11 a.m. Rev. Danielle Bridgeforth, officiating. Interment in Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, VA on Monday, December 17, 2012 at 10 a.m.
