On October 26, 2012, Carolyn Williams Pollin, of Williamsburg, VA, went to join our Lord in heaven. She will be sorely missed by her husband of 62 years, George A. Pollin, Col, (Ret); her three children, daughters Victoria Thompson and Leslie Cushnie, and her son George A. Pollin III, their spouses and her seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. It was said of her that she had no acquaintances, as all of the people she met became her friends -and they will miss her too. Carolyn was born at Ft. Bragg, NC, the second daughter of Col and Mrs. William D. Williams, and spent her younger years living at various posts and cities in the United States. She attended the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA where she became a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. When her father was stationed at Fort Sill, OK, she met and married 2nd Lt George Pollin and embarked on the life of a military family, raising her daughters, both born in West Germany, and her son, born at Fort Sill. She loved gardening, painting, decorating, entertaining, and her family. She was also deeply religious and devoted to her Catholic Faith. One of her dear friends wrote, "Blessed is she who has a heart filled with love". That sentiment is a wonderful description of Carolyn, and while we will always cherish her memory, we are consoled that she is in a better place.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Patriots Colony in Williamsburg, VA on Monday, November 5 at 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial and interment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in Carolyn's honor to Catholic Relief Services, P.O. Box 17090, Baltimore, MD 21203-7090.
