Charles Allan Rogers, Sr., 82, of Edinburg, Virginia, died Tuesday, November 27, 2012 in the University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville, Virginia.
Mr. Rogers was born February 9, 1930 in Takoma Park, Maryland, the son of Eugene Asbury Rogers, Sr. and Clora Lantz Rogers Dillaman.
He served with the Washington, DC Fire Department where he was appointed on November 14, 1955 to Truck 13, and retired on November 15, 1986 as Deputy Fire Chief after 31 years of service.
He had served in the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of the Emerald Society; Retired Firefighters Association; International Association of Firefighters; and the NRA.
He married Donna Marie Pleger Rogers on January 6, 1954 in Bethesda, Maryland. Mrs. Rogers died in December 11, 2001.
Surviving are two daughters, Sharon Marie Serio of Edinburg, VA and Natalie Ann Bare and her husband, J. Steven of Myersville, MD; four sons, W. Craig Rogers and his wife, Shirley of Ocean View, DE, Michael Eugene Rogers and his wife, Sharon Louise of Berryville, VA, Gary Lee Rogers and his wife, Lynn Michelle of Edinburg, VA and Douglas Asbury Rogers and his wife, Kristin of Fords, New Jersey; 11 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
A son, Charles Allan Rogers, Jr. preceded him in death.
A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Enders & Shirley Funeral Home Chapel, Berryville, VA. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends for a service from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, December 7, 2012 at the funeral home.
