YNC USN (Ret.)  

Passed away peacefully at his home in Falls Church, VA on Tuesday, February 19, 2013. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Marjorie J. Fedora and brothers John and Joe and sister Mary. Charles was born in Astoria, New York and raised in DeVault, PA. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1938 and rose to the rank of Chief Petty Officer. During his time in the Navy he served aboard the USS Nashville and the USS Albany. In 1942 he was assigned to the Office of Chief of Naval Operations where he served under six Admirals (King, Nimitz, Sherman, Fechteler, Carne and Burke ). After 20 years in the Navy he made a career in the financial sector as a stock broker. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and golf. He is survived by his three sons Robert C. (Rose), Richard J. (Mary Jane), Charles M. (Sharon) and daughter Joan M. Fedora. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Murphy Falls Church Funeral Home, 1102 W. Broad St. (Rt. 7) where the family will be present from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, February 24, 2013. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, February 25, 2013 at 10 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, 103 N. Spring St., Falls Church, VA. Interment will follow at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Capital Caring Hospice, 2900 Telestar Ct., Falls Church, VA. 22042.
