On May 30, 2012 of Alexandria, VA, was born in Charleston, SC in 1933. He graduated with honors from the University of Clemson with a degree in Electronics Engineering. He worked at the Charleston Naval Shipyard until he moved to Alexandria in 1960. During the Cold War, he worked at the Naval Electronic Systems Command (NAVALEX), making improvements to surveillance security systems, transforming the night vision of submarines and was involved in highly classified operations. He was a dedicated member of the Old Crows Association, the Mount Vernon Lions Club and a faithful member of the Cameron United Methodist Church. He celebrated his Fifth Golden Wedding Anniversary with his beloved wife, Doris Edwards. He was the father of Jack Finucan, Ann Borchevsky and Michael Edwards, grandfather of Kristy, Kelly, Heather, Katie, Trent, Anthony and Rachel and great grandfather of Mason, Anthony and Zoey. Relatives and friends may call at Jefferson Funeral Chapel, 5755 Castlewellan Dr., Alexandria, VA on Sunday, June 3, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Cameron United Methodist Church, 3130 Franconia Rd., Alexandria VA, on Monday, June 4 at 12 p.m. followed immediately by interment at Mt. Comfort Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Cameron United Methodist Church at the above listed address.
