Not sure what to say?

Kathy Szymanski

To the Groves family: Please accept our condolences on the loss of Clayton. We met Clayton through extremely sad circumstances--our 18 year old daughter was laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery 5 years ago.

During our near-daily visits to Oakwood through the years, we often saw Clayton. His warmth and sympathy combined with his perceptive ability to know if we might want to say "hello" or if a simple wave was in order will always be remembered. We will always remember his unfailing kindness to us.
In Sympathy,
Dennis and Kathy Szymanski

To the Groves Family
We just got back into town and got the voice mail from Dawn with the extremely sad news. We are so sorry we weren't here to attend the funeral.

My family grew up with all of them and we have many happy memories of them. I can remember many times he would come over with plants of all kinds and get my father interested in planting them. He was always one that would help any of our neighbors out. He had a big heart when it came to all of us...he looked after us. Many times we would hear him yell down to us from the "house on the hill". He touched my life, my father Howard, my mom Peggy and most of all he helped out my nephew Jason.

Clayton, you are a special person....please give my dad Howard and my neighbor Dick a big huge from us. I know they are surprised to see you but you are in good company, looking down on all of us.

My thoughts and prayers are with all that shared in Clayton's life. He touched my life in a way that no man ever has. He was a wonderful man who loved life and his son!
It's been over twenty three years, but I can still see him in his hat and shades. I will forever remember him. He was the best.
Respectfully,
Beth

Clayton was my brother-in-law and an Uncle to my kids. We all loved him very much as he was always there with a smile and a helpful hand when needed. He loved his wife and child dearly as they loved him and still do. Clayton, we'll miss you, thank you for touching our lives, you've made this world a better place and we were all blessed to know you.

Love, Robin, Mark, Sara, Caroline, Luke and Kate Spangenberg

PS Thanks for the fishing lessons Uncle Clayton! from the nieces and nephew

We are so sorry for your loss. May God give you strength through this difficult time.

We have so many memories of Clayton to last us a life time. He was a great friend and neighbor who loved to talk about camping/fishing/skiing and his son. He was so proud of Justin. I just know Clayton is flying in his helicopter high above the clouds looking over all of us.

Please let us know if we can help out in anyway.

Much Love!

Although I have only known Clayton for about a year, we became instant good friends. He opened his beautiful home on the River to us, and his hospitality was warm and caring. He was fun, funny, interesting and absolutely charming, as only Clayton could be. He holds a special place in my heart, and I will forever remember him on his boat, with his hat and shades on, running on the River that he loved. It will never be the same without him, and I will always miss him.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

Clayton was a kind, fun, wonderful person who touch everyone here at the river in his own special way. He loved this River, as it so loved him. We will miss him dearly.
