ACTON CONSTANCE N. ACTON Of Alexandria, VA passed away on February 15, 2008. Constance is survived by her children, Dr. Conny Acton of Santa Rosa, CA and Foster N. Acton, Esq. of Alexandria. She was preceded in death by her husband, Foster S. Acton in 1972. Constance was born in Canada in 1916. She grew up in Montreal and St. John, N.B. She was graduated from the Hotel Dieu Normal School and St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Cornwall, Ontario, and worked as a registered nurse before becoming a full-time mother. She was a member of St. Luke‘s Church in East Greenwich, RI for 30 years, performing in the choir. Constance then spent 10 years at the Redwoods Retirement Community in Mill Valley, CA doing volunteer work before moving to Northern Virginia in 2003. She was an active member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church for the last five years. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 21 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Demaine Funeral Home, 5308 Backlick Road, Springfield, VA 22151. A memorial service to celebrate Constance‘s life will be held on Saturday, February 23, 11 a.m. at the St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 4801 Ravensworth Rd., Annandale, VA 22003, followed by a reception. Burial will be private and at a later date.
