DAGMAR A. LENDING
Dagmar Ann Lending died unexpectedly Tuesday, December 2, 2014. She was 82.Dagmar Ann Simpson was born in Long Branch, New Jersey on September 24, 1932. She was a retired special education teacher in Fairfax County. Predeceased by husband, Ralph D. Lending; survived by her four children and their spouses, Diane Lending (and Art Thompson); Stuart Lending (and Brock); Claire Crutchley (and Darrell); and Curtis Lending (and Claire Schrodt); her brother Robert Simpson; and seven grandchildren, Patrick Crutchley (and Liz); Sarah Lending, Andrew Lending, Elaine Crutchley, Katie Thompson, Chase Lending and Valerie Lending. A celebration of Dagmar's life will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 12 noon, at the Little River United Church of Christ in Annandale, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the League of Women Voters of the Fairfax Area or the children's charity of your choice, to honor Dagmar's commitment to these causes.

Dagmar was a cheerful, and very interested member of the many classes she decided to attend. And Ralph , most of the time, fell asleep, especially after noon classes. Dagmar would poke him! Fortunately, he did not snore, or jump when she did the poking. Dagmar asked pointed questions, and wanted a full answer. Good for her. I am still a member. Beverly George

Mrs. Lending (Dagmar) was one of the most exceptional people I have ever known. It is impossible to describe the force of her personality. At once, playful and deadly serious, her gaze penetrated through skin and bone. Her every thought was a question as well as a challenge. She lived by a creed unswayed by time or influence. She never wavered.
We shared a love of Danish design, she inherited from her mother.
The mother of my best childhood friend, Claire, she was one of those people on whom the world is founded. She was one of those people on whom MY world was founded. She left it on my birthday.
Think of Dagmar as a star. Dagmar would be a grand name for a whirling planet.
God bless the Lending family yesterday, today, and tomorrow for all they have given me and the world.
