SSG DAVID C. WHERLEY (Age 40)  

Staff Sergeant David C. Wherley of Fayetteville, NC, died at his residence on January 31, 2013.
 
David was the son of the late Retired General David F. and Ann (Strine) Wherley.
 
He served as a Golden Knight in the U.S. Army Parachute Team, which he was a Gold Team Demonstrator, free fall videographer, tandem coordinator and media coordinator. Wherley made over 7,500 parachute jumps, while serving over 12 years.
 
He is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Wherley Regan; niece, Evann Regan; nephew, David Regan, all of Charlotte, NC; grandfather, Harold "Chap" Strine of McSherrystown, PA; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
 
A Memorial Mass will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, February 16, 2013 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 315 N Constitution Ave., New Freedom, PA 17349. The Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., 53 Main Street, Glen Rock PA, is assisting with the arrangements.
