On Thursday, July 5,2012, DAVID MARTIN ALLEX of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved husband of VIrginia "Jean" Allex; devoted father of Vaughn H. Allex (Denise), Daniel S. Allex (Amy), Gail J. Maurer (John) and Lynn F. Allex; loving grandfather of Andrea, Adam, Kevin, Amanda, Eric, Andrew, Jessica, Gary (Yizhak), Ashley and Kyle.
Born in 1922, and raised in Washington, DC, Dave served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II, where he taught radio communication, both stateside and overseas. Following his service to his country, David, a licensed private pilot, worked as the general manager of Central Liquors in Washington, DC for 39 years, where his daily interaction with politicians and news anchors made him as much a DC staple as the store itself. When his time at Central ended, he spent several years working at Paul's Liquor in Chevy Chase.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, July 8, 11 a.m., at King David Memorial Gardens, Falls Church, VA. The family will be observing shiva at the residence of Jean Allex after the service and on Sunday and Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to The Casey House, 1355 Piccard Dr., Suite 100, Rockville, MD 20850 or any Jewish charity.
